Bible Passage: Luke 15:11-32.
As the year 2018 begins, there are lessons to be learnt from the life of the prodigal son.
The first lesson is that the prodigal son knew how to ask for big things. (Luke 15:12)
He asked his father to give him his own portion of the inheritance.
If you have been asking God for small things in 2017, please change your mindset.
A good place to begin is to pray this prayer point until it manifests in your life. “Father let me never know poverty again for the rest of my life.”
The second lesson is that the prodigal son cut off himself from vital advice and mentorship. (Luke 15:13). The bible tells us he journeyed into a far country.
I want you to know that your prosperity is settled this year if you will remain close to the Almighty God.
Don’t be like the prodigal son. Don’t separate yourself from the Almighty God by sinning and not maintaining fellowship with him through prayer and the study of the Word of God.
The third lesson is that the prodigal son wasted his resources. (Luke 15:13). The bible tells us that he wasted his substance on riotous living. The Almighty is going to bless you financially this year. Don’t waste your money on gambling and patronizing prostitutes.
Don’t buy anything that catches your fancy.
Do you know that if you spend 100 naira on soft drinks every day of 2018, you will have spent 36,500 (thirty six thousand five hundred naira) at the end of the year. Be wise in your spending.
Don’t waste your time on frivolities like watching football matches. Instead spend your time learning new skills that will enhance your earning ability and make you a better person.
The fourth lesson is that the prodigal son repented. (Luke 15:17-20). He changed his mind set and his ways. Perhaps, things have been difficult for you lately? Examine your mindset and your ways. Change the negative things you have been doing to positive ones and rekindle your fellowship with the Almighty God. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Savior, please confess your sins to him now ask him to forgive you and cleanse you with his blood. Ask him to write your name in the book of life.
The fifth lesson is that abundance and spiritual authority was restored to the prodigal son. (Luke 15:22-24). The best cloth was put on him signifying abundant provision and a ring was put on his hand signifying the restoration of spiritual authority.
As you retrace your way back to the Almighty God, all the authority you have lost to Satan and his demons shall be restored to you in Jesus name.
